Description
So Noah Maar is the main character of my film, Water. I'm revamping him, and his entire story. These are explorations in his design. Please choose your favorite numbers, and comment for me so you can help me find a balance of what works and doesn't!

His girlfriend, Emily, drowned with him, but he survived.
After recovering from the hospital, he tries to remember how they both drowned, and why he couldn't save her. All that's left of her is her scarlet bracelet, given to him by his younger brother, Soma.
The bracelet coincidentally spills a window to Noah's past, a water gate to enter his memories so he can piece his fragmented past of Emily's relationship with him together.
Only thing is if he stays in his memories for too long, he drowns in his unconscious. Soma has to pull him out before that happens. The longer he slips inside the water from Emily's scarlet bracelet, the more he loses himself, as if he's dissolving into his past.
Noah will be half Spanish, quarter French, quarter Japanese. He frequently wears scarves, hoodies, beanies, vests, and formal wear. Before he drowned he worked at a local tea shop as the waiter, and herbalist of new tea concoctions or other drinks. He has a scar on his throat from his hospital recovery, because he suffered through pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome, and was connected by an oxygen pump and wheel chair for some time after he awoke from his coma.
He plays piano, was about to go to college as a Nutritionist or Herbalist, and lives in Mendocino, California. His favorite days are foggy days. He enjoys sugary teas or flavored milk drinks (he calls them steamers, and is partial to chocolate mint, raspberry, and hazelnut.)
Him and Soma are latchkey kids.

Mmm, very interesting character and plot. So far, I like the following designs most:
1 - Gives him an edgy look which belies, perhaps, his more "relaxed" or complacent self. It gives ways to juxtapose sentimental or tender facial expressions with the jagged edges of his face.
2 - Really helps to indicate where he comes from and shows his foreign nature. I like the narrow eyes as well.
4 - Perhaps wistful and dreamy, partially indicative of his role in the story as a searcher of dreams and memories.
6 - This seems the most imaginative approach (his hair) and seems the most fantastical of them all. I get the feeling anything could happen to/with him with that hair.
7 - The large pupils are almost eerie and ethereal, denoting an unnatural quality about him, perhaps denoting--again as I mentioned--his purpose in the story.
13 - I feel this one embodies the almost hipster-esque description I feel was conveyed. I know they're "latchkey" kids, but I feel that the design is down-to-earth in a way. Also I've been playing Saints Row 2 and dealt with "Veteran Child" who had a similar hat. Liked the character design on him. Also voiced by Neil Patrick Harris...
16 - This design seems playful, but not too much so (unlike 10). He seems full of life despite his circumstances and conveys a sense of hopefulness to his character that could be quite refreshing, all things considered.
17 - Solemn, almost bereft. Simplistic and nice, choppy hair. I think I've run out of good explanations as this point.
